COVID-19 July Update

Melbourne local lockdown update
As a result of the continuing increase in COVID-19 case number in parts of Melbourne, the Victorian Premier has announced targeted stay-at-home orders for these areas. Postcodes linked to the current outbreaks are in local lockdown. For now, that includes the following postcodes: 3038, 3064, 3047, 3060, 3012, 3032, 3055, 3042, 3046, 3051, 3031.
Can I still attend the dentist?
We ask that patients who reside in the lockdown suburbs postpone their regular check-ups and cleans to a later date to avoid spreading the virus.
Patients with an appointment booked to continue treatment such as crown work or endodontics are welcome to keep their appointment as these procedures are time sensitive. Patients in lockdown suburbs who require urgent dental attention are encouraged to attend the practice and undergo treatment, provided they meet our screening criteria.
As dental is an essential service, we are operating at Level 1 restrictions and will continue to see patients outside of these postcodes as usual. Level 1 restrictions permit all dental treatments using standard precautions for people who do not meet epidemiological or clinical risk factors for COVID-19 infection transmission. Non-urgent treatment for people who do meet epidemiological or clinical symptom criteria for COVID-19 risk should be deferred.
We ask that all patients sanitise their hands with the alcohol-based handrub provided when they present at reception and complete a temperature check. Social distancing measures have been set up in the waiting room as well as the staggering of appointments. Patients will also be asked to use an antibacterial mouthwash prior to starting a procedure.
We want to ensure the safety of all our patients and staff with appropriate screening for all patients. This includes whether the patient has:
- been overseas in the last two weeks
- had contact with a known/suspected COVID-19 case in the last two weeks
- resided in or visited a known high-risk area with a cluster of cases
- recently tested for COVID-19
And has demonstrated any of the following symptoms:
- Fever
- a cough
- sore throat
- shortness of breath
- fatigue
- other respiratory symptoms
- recent loss of smell/taste
