Dental Implants in Melbourne

Natural-Looking and Comfortable

Dental implants provide a natural-looking and comfortable way to replace missing teeth.

They can replace a single missing tooth or be a support for bridges or dentures.

A dental implant is a permanent tooth fixture that replaces a tooth that is missing or is used to hold a denture in place.

The implant has 3 parts:

  • A post, usually made from titanium, that is placed into the jaw bone to simulate a tooth root
  • An abutment or connector, also made from titanium, which is placed on top of the post above the bone , to connect the implant to the replacement tooth or teeth
  • A crown, usually made from high-grade ceramic and/or metal, which is built around the abutment and looks and feels like a natural tooth.

Dental implants are root shaped fixtures of titanium, which are surgically placed into your jawbone.

The implant acts as an anchor for a crown, bridge or denture to fit over.

A single tooth implant requires no alterations to the adjacent teeth and often looks and feels like the original natural tooth. If you have a denture or partial that is loose, implants can provide you with a solid anchor to stabilise your appliance.

They also help to maintain the jaw bone over the course of a lifetime.

Diligent daily oral hygiene is required for implants to stay clean and healthy. It’s also important to regularly visit Dr Nguyen and Dr Robinson for routine follow-up appointments and cleanings.

Your implant restoration will periodically require replacement of some parts as they wear naturally with function.

Whether you’ve already lost one or more teeth, the impact can be devastating.

Nobody likes the idea that their smile will be incomplete, and we all rely on every one of our teeth for eating, speaking and smiling.

In years past, the only solutions for tooth loss were bridges or dentures: artificial teeth that would anchor to either other teeth in your mouth, or to your gums.

Neither of these solutions could actually replace teeth in a way that felt natural, and often they could lead to other problems. In the modern era of dental technology, dental implants provide a better solution to the problem of tooth loss.

Whether you receive one, several, or an entire arch of implants, the result will be true replacements for your own teeth that let you eat, smile and speak naturally

It’s important for both your health and your self-esteem to replace missing teeth. Not only do you lose chewing ability when a tooth is lost, but unreplaced teeth can cause other teeth to be stressed, lost, or crowded and create still more problems.

A lost tooth certainly affects your appearance in a negative way, and you may feel self-conscious about smiling or talking.

Single-tooth titanium dental implants became a solution for lost teeth more than 30 years ago, and today’s technology makes them better, faster and safer than ever before.

While dental bridges or dentures also replace missing teeth, dental implants, when correctly placed, are a superior replacement.

Other Reasons:

Some of the reasons that we recommend dental implants for our clients if they have missing teeth, and meet the criteria for implant surgery.

  1. Dental implants look and feel like natural teeth.
  2. Dental implants are permanently fixed. The dental implant post is inserted surgically into your jaw bone
  3. Dental Implant prevent further bone loss by stimulate the body to actually construct the bone cells necessary to bond to the implant. In contrast, the loss of a tooth causes the  bone in the area of loss  to recede and dissolve away Over time
  4. Dental implants allow you to preserve your remaining teeth. A dental bridge uses the teeth next to the empty space as anchors, and of necessity requires your dentist to cut down the healthy tooth and place a crown over it.

Several important stages are involved in a dental implant process. Here at Aspire One Dental we work with a specialist Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons for quality results.

  1. A consultation and thorough examination.  A comprehensive evaluation will be performed. An OPG and/or a CBCT scan will be taken of your jawbone to ensure there is sufficient bone density to support your implant.
  2. Referral to our Oral Surgeon for further assessment and placement of the implant into it’s ideal position. It is then left, to naturally integrate with your jawbone. This can take between 10-15 weeks.

We are located next door to the top Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons in Melbourne and ensure that your implants are done to perfection.

  1. Return to Aspire One Dental to make impression moulds of the implant, your teeth and your bite.
  2. From these moulds, a custom fabricated abutment and  crown or bridge is made.
  3. The abutment and replacement crown or bridge are then attached to your implant.

The implant is completed and this restores your beautiful smile
